Melania Trump is rumored to be living in ‘seclusion’ at Mar-a-Lago, which sounds rather sad
Melania Trump kept a low-key profile even as a first lady, but since leaving Washington, D.C. with her husband Donald Trump just over a year ago, she’s largely vanished from sight.
However, according to a recent People report, she and her husband are living as strangers within Mar-a-Lago. The former first couple celebrated their 17th anniversary over the weekend, but have spent fewer days together since last January, according to Queerty. Sure, they’re still living together at the famed Palm Beach, Florida resort, but they “do their own thing,” according to one source, who adds that Melania is mostly focused on “her own interests away from the spotlight.”
And those interests do not include her husband, according to Queerty.
Trump spends a lot of time on the golf course, whereas Melania prefers to spend her time at the spa or pursuing “her business and philanthropic interests,” which of course include the hat she recently auctioned off — the one she wore when the French first family visited the White House in 2018. According to People, their relationship has been “livable” in the year since they left the White House, but they are “different personalities at different stages of their lives.”
“She makes an appearance with Donald for certain dinners, but spends much of her time with her own family,” the source told People.
Graham Gremore, writing for Queerty, notes:
“That sounds… kinda depressing actually.”
Melania appears to prefer to keep to herself at the private club, according to People, and her “inner circle consists mainly of her sister and her parents.”
“She knows what Donald wants from her, but the rest of her life is dictated by her own interests,” one source says. “Each has come to respect what the other wants and needs.”
For months, rumors circulated that Melania rarely visited the White House while her husband was president, preferring to stay with her parents in Potomac, Maryland. Of course, author Michael Wolff addressed this in his book Landslide: The Last Days of the Trump Presidency. This has never been confirmed, but as a recent People magazine report reminds us, Melania has always placed a high premium on privacy.
“For four years in the White House, it was never quite clear how much time she was spending at the White House or in a house in Maryland where she had settled her parents,” Wolff wrote. “Aides were careful not to closely inquire or openly wonder.”
But all of this is now moot. Melania Trump and her odious husband are no longer the first couples. And that is what is most important.
