Samantha Markle serves royals with court documents in defamation claim against Harry and Meghan
Both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to testify in the defamation action brought by the Duchess’ sister against her, according to a report.
Samantha Markle filed a petition Friday requesting that the ex-royals testify in her attempt to show Meghan made “false and malicious statements” during the couple’s March 2021 interview with Oprah, according to the Mirror.
Samantha prefers that the pair be deposed on the same day, but in separate on-camera interviews.
According to the NY Post, the angry half-sister wants the Duchess to make 38 distinct admissions during her deposition.
Samantha wants Meghan to not only confess that she lied about their relationship and upbringing to promote a “rags-to-royalty” story, but she also wants Meghan to retract allegations she made about the royal family by claiming “Queen Elizabeth was not a racist” and “King Charles is not a racist.”
Samantha, Meghan’s father, accused her in the filings of hiding evidence and hindering discovery.
The women’s father, Thomas Markle, is likely to testify, as are former royal adviser Jason Knauf, Samantha’s daughter Ashleigh Hale, and cyber security expert Christopher Bouzy.
Samantha, 58, and Meghan, 41, had been feuding for years before the famous Oprah interview in 2021 Meghan has often accused her half-sister and father of selling stories to British newspapers.
Samantha filed the $75,000 lawsuit after Meghan told Oprah that she grew raised as an only child and allegedly lied about the sisters’ last meeting. The lies led Samantha to “humiliation ad hatred,” she argued.
As the couple continues to release documentaries and memories, she has continued to fire shots at her half-sister and brother-in-law. She accused Prince Harry of being “emotionally underdeveloped” last month.
According to the documents, a mediator has been hired in an attempt to avoid a trial, but Meghan is trying to have the “meritless” case rejected.
