Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former close advisor to Melania Trump and author of “Melania and Me,” has raised eyebrows with her recent observations about the state of Melania’s marriage to Donald Trump. Wolkoff took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express her concerns, pointing out a noticeable shift in Donald Trump’s behavior towards his wife.
She suggests that Trump’s apparent disregard for acts of chivalry towards Melania is indicative of deeper issues within their relationship, emphasizing that appearances are critically important to the Trump family, making this change all the more significant.
“Chivalry for Donald was waiting for Melania to go first & ensuring she walked by his side. He’s been doing neither recently. Take a [look],” Wolkoff wrote alongside a video comparing past footage of Trump placing his hand on Melania’s back to allow her to walk ahead of him, with a more recent video of Trump doing no such thing and walking ahead of her.
The reaction to Wolkoff’s comments was mixed, with some agreeing with her assessment, while others felt she might be reading too much into the situation. Critics of Wolkoff’s viewpoint argued that the Trump family has endured considerable scrutiny and pressure from the media and legal systems, which could account for any perceived changes in behavior. They also highlighted the recent loss of Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs, in January, as a possible factor affecting her current state of mind and public demeanor, suggesting that her priorities might be elsewhere during such a difficult time.
Melania Trump herself has previously criticized Wolkoff for her actions, particularly after Wolkoff released secretly recorded phone conversations between them. Melania accused Wolkoff of taking her words out of context and using them to paint a distorted picture of her character through what she described as a book filled with idle gossip.
As The New York Post pointed out, Melania previously slammed Wolkoff in the wake of her book being published, calling her an “opportunist,” adding that she was “someone who clung to me after my husband won the Presidency.”
Despite their strained relationship, Wolkoff defended Melania when rumors swirled about her absence from Donald Trump’s Super Tuesday victory celebration. This defense, coming from someone who has publicly fallen out with Melania, adds another layer of complexity to the public’s understanding of Melania’s current situation and her relationship with her husband.
