Prince Harry has distanced himself from most of his close friends, choosing to avoid revisiting his life before meeting Meghan Markle, a royal expert has revealed. Royal author Tom Quinn discussed the Duke of Sussex’s old friends from his army days with The Mirror, noting that Harry has not seen them in a long time.

According to Quinn, many of Harry’s friends find the Duchess of Sussex difficult to deal with and prefer to avoid him rather than visit him, despite his relocation to Montecito, California. “Harry has a few friends from the army and from his days at school, but they are a part of the old pre-Meghan world that Harry hates to revisit,” Quinn said.

Quinn added that Harry’s military friends feel betrayed by how he has written about his military service. “His military friends feel he has betrayed them by writing about his military service in such an un-military way,” Quinn explained. “His old Etonian friends don’t like the new ‘woke’ Harry. Conservative with both a small and a big C, they see the new Harry as a tree-hugger with whom they have nothing in common.”

The royal expert emphasized that Harry’s estrangement from his friends is not simply due to the physical distance created by his move to California. “Harry has no plans to see his pals because he does not want to revisit the ‘pre-Meghan world,’” Quinn noted.

The shift in Harry’s social circle reflects the significant changes in his life and values since marrying Meghan Markle. His new life in California and his evolving worldview have created a divide between him and his old friends, marking a clear departure from his former life.

Harry’s decision to step back from royal duties and relocate to the United States with Meghan has been a source of tension within his social circle. The couple’s openness about their struggles and their criticisms of the royal family have further isolated Harry from his old friends.

As Harry and Meghan continue to build their new life together, it appears that they are focusing on their immediate family and new connections rather than maintaining old friendships. This change underscores the profound impact that Meghan has had on Harry’s life, steering him away from his past and towards a future aligned with their shared values and goals.

In this new chapter, Harry is redefining his identity and priorities, even if it means leaving behind significant parts of his old life. The journey of self-discovery and transformation that Harry is on highlights the personal sacrifices he has made in pursuit of a life that feels authentic and fulfilling to him and Meghan.
