Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been cautioned against leveraging their royal connections for financial gain as they embark on new ventures. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped back from their royal duties in 2020, have previously relied on their association with the Royal Family for various projects.

Royal expert Russell Myers has issued a warning to the couple, advising them to distance themselves from their royalties when pursuing new business opportunities. Myers highlighted the potential risks and negative consequences of continuing to capitalize on their royal name.

He told Sky News Australia: “Members from the Royal Family have told Harry, that if he wants a relationship with the rest of the family, then first and foremost, he has got to stop talking about them. “They can’t go about making money off their associations with the Royal Family. They’re going to [have to] sort of realize, if they’re going to have a relationship with the rest of the royal family, they can’t go about trashing them.”

He added: “Hopefully, they’ll see that the Royal Family is very united without them, and if they do want a relationship, going forward, they need to take the steam out of their relationship and out of the things they say sometimes.”

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex need to carve out their own identity and refrain from using their royal connections to make money,” Myers stated. “Their association with the Royal Family has been a double-edged sword, providing initial interest but also attracting scrutiny and criticism.”

Since their departure from the Royal Family, Harry and Meghan have engaged in several high-profile ventures, including lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify. These projects have brought financial independence but have also drawn intense media attention and public debate.

Myers emphasized that relying too heavily on their royal past could hinder the couple’s efforts to establish a new, independent brand. He suggested that they focus on their unique strengths and passions to build a sustainable future.

“As they move forward, it’s crucial for Harry and Meghan to develop their brand based on their individual talents and interests, rather than their royal heritage,” Myers advised. “This approach will not only help them achieve long-term success but also reduce the backlash they might face.”

The expert’s warning comes as the couple prepares to launch new initiatives and expand their philanthropic efforts. Myers urged them to carefully consider the implications of their actions and to prioritize authenticity in their endeavors.
