During a recent interview with CBS’s Margaret Brennan, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed questions surrounding President Joe Biden’s age and her readiness to assume the role of commander-in-chief.

When Brennan pointed to concerns, even among Democrats, about Biden’s age and fitness for a potential second term, Harris firmly stated, “Yes I am [prepared], if necessary.” She praised Biden’s accomplishments, highlighting transformative changes in America’s infrastructure.

However, the interview took a turn when Brennan probed whether Harris was taking the possibility of Donald Trump’s return to the White House seriously. The question seemed to catch the Vice President off guard. Harris responded with determination, “We will win reelection. There is too much at stake, and the American people know it.”

Harris, during a separate discussion with the Associated Press, emphasized her awareness of the responsibilities that come with her position, stating that every vice president needs to be prepared to step into the role of president if needed.

According to Real Clear Politics, current polling shows a neck-and-neck race between Biden and Trump. Both are leading in their respective primaries, with Biden holding a significant lead over Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the Democratic race, and Trump ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the Republican field.
