A mother of two, Kadesha Burch, 31, was tragically killed, and another woman, Frances Campbell, 52, was severely injured, in what police describe as a chilling act of violence by Roosevelt Davis III, 23. Davis has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and burglary in connection with the December 27 incident in Springfield, Kentucky.

Authorities responded to a 12:20 a.m. call reporting that a man had forcibly entered a home on the 800 block of Claybrook Avenue and shot two people. Police discovered Burch dead at the scene and Campbell suffering from critical injuries.

Davis, identified as the prime suspect, was apprehended just hours later during a traffic stop in Shelby County, Kentucky. Officers, noticing a speeding car with a Wisconsin license plate, stopped the vehicle near Simpsonville. They discovered Davis was wanted not only for the shootings but also for a bank robbery in Wisconsin.

According to an arrest citation obtained by Wave, Davis admitted to robbing a Wisconsin bank to finance his purchase of two firearms and camouflage gear. He confessed to driving to Kentucky with the intent to kill Burch and Campbell. Davis reportedly used his shoulder to break open a side door of the residence and fired approximately ten rounds inside.

Davis and Burch were reportedly in a long-term relationship marked by domestic violence incidents. Fox6 reported that Burch had previously claimed Davis strangled her, but she had managed to defend herself with a firearm.

Davis is currently held in Shelby County on a $2 million bond. The community mourns Burch’s loss, with friends expressing their heartbreak on social media. One tribute read, “Never in a million years did I think I’d be sitting here making this post right now. I’m at a loss for words.

This doesn’t even feel real. I lost somebody I wasn’t prepared to live without. Being your best friend was such a gift I don’t think I’ll ever recover from this. You were truly an amazing person with the sweetest soul I’ve ever met.”

To honor Burch’s memory, her loved ones created a GoFundMe page to cover burial expenses, raising over $7,000 so far. This tragic incident has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew Kadesha, as they struggle to process a loss described as both senseless and heartbreaking.
