A father of four, Michael Grant, tragically collapsed and died in Magaluf early Monday morning. The 45-year-old was found unresponsive near the Punta Bellena strip, leaving his family and community devastated.

Michael, a physiotherapist and Irish youth soccer coach, was on holiday with his wife, Leanne, and their four children, along with other Irish families. It is believed he became separated from his wife during a night out and lost his way when tragedy struck.

Staying at a nearby family-friendly resort, Michael was crossing Martin Ros Garcia Street when he collapsed. A security guard alerted local police, and despite efforts to revive him, Michael was pronounced dead shortly after. His body remained on the street for several hours as police conducted an investigation.

A local shopkeeper told The Daily Mail, “I was not here when the man died, it was about four o’clock in the morning. But when I came to work at about 8 am, his body was still lying on the ground. It was horrible.”

Tributes have poured in for Michael following the news of his sudden death. His family expressed their grief, stating that Michael will be “deeply mourned and forever loved.” His death notice reads: “Deeply mourned and forever loved by his heartbroken wife Leanne, his four children Kayley, Niamh, Shay, and Sofia, his devastated parents Michael (Sam) and Marie (Grant), sisters Jeannette, Deborah and Deirdre, brothers and best friends Brian and Alan, his parents-in-law Luke and Tina (Nolan), brothers-in-law Les and Shane, Shane’s wife Trish, sisters-in-law Lilian, Sinead and Catherine, Catherine’s partner Gordon.”

St Josephs AFC Waterford, where Michael was a cherished member and head child coach, also paid tribute. They wrote on Facebook, “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the sudden shock passing of our dearest club member and head child coach, Michael Grant. Michael was more than just a coach to us—he was a beloved friend. His dedication, passion, and love for the kids were evident in everything he did. He cherished every one of them, and his impact was immeasurable.”

The club extended condolences to Michael’s family and acknowledged the grief felt by the community, noting, “Michael was a significant part of their lives, and his loss is deeply personal to each of us.” Funeral details for Michael Grant are yet to be announced, but his legacy and the love he shared will forever be remembered by his family, friends, and community.
