A tragic incident occurred as Hurricane Debby made landfall on the coast of Florida, resulting in the death of a teenager after a tree fell onto a mobile home.

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the scene around 8 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a 13-year-old crushed inside the home. The Levy County Department of Public Safety assisted deputies in their response. Fortunately, no other injuries have been reported.

Sheriff McCallum personally attended the scene to offer support to the grieving family during this difficult time. Hurricane Debby struck Florida early Monday morning as a Category 1 storm. The hurricane is expected to continue its path northeast across the state, heading towards Georgia and the Carolinas, according to USA Today.

Forecasters predict that the storm will stall off the coast of South Carolina by Wednesday, potentially causing significant flooding in the region. Meteorologists warn that up to 20 inches of rain could fall in Charleston this week, raising concerns about severe flooding, told ABC News.

As the storm progresses, officials are urging residents in the affected areas to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. Emergency services and local authorities remain on high alert to respond to any further incidents caused by the hurricane.
