Former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham Responds to Melania Trump’s Criticism of Her Memoir
Stephanie Grisham, former President Donald Trump‘s White House press secretary, has started a new battle with former First Lady Melania Trump over her tell-all memoir, I’ll Take Your Questions Now, in which she describes her time working for the Trump family at the White House, as reported by interview.
“Stephanie knows she has mixed the hornet nest with this book,” a source told Politico. “Stephanie has secrets about Trump that the First Lady doesn’t even know. She’s a mystery she doesn’t want to know. They are in this book.”
Grisham was named White House press secretary in July 2019 but left after nine months because she never gave a news briefing. She then returned to the East Wing as Chief of Staff to the First Lady.
Grisham was mentioned by former President Trump to reporters during his term, who complimented her efficiency.
“Stephanie has been with me from the beginning, as most of you know,” said Trump. “And then over the last couple of years, she’s worked for the first lady and done a fantastic job. The first lady loves her, thinks she’s been, you know, just incredible. She’s very talented.”
With the release of her book in October of last year, all of that praise is gone.
In her novel, Grisham compares the former First Lady’s attitude to the January 2021 attack on the Capitol to that of the “doomed French queen” Marie Antoinette.
“Through mistruth and betrayal, she seeks to gain relevance and money at the expense of Mrs. Trump,” Melania Trump’s office responded to the book in a statement.
Among White House reporters, the former press secretary is also known to have been with Trump’s 2016 campaign as a press aide, a person who travels with the media and directs them to where they need to be for events. Because Grisham failed to negotiate the arrangement, the former First Lady reportedly missed her chance to be on the cover of Tatler.
“She knows where all the bodies are buried because she buried a lot of them herself,” a source told Axios.
