The spring 2011 assortment reminds of Captain Cook on his journey on the wild waves of Pacific Ocean in search of faraway lands. Yes, the newest spring trends played with the idea of clothing as storytelling, pieces that follow you in your adventures around the world. Read on to know some of the most hit men’s trends to dominate the spring streets in 2011.

Gilded Age

Stefan Miljanic cited Pan American World Airways and clipper ships as inspiration. He came up with shirts made of fabrics that looked aged and tanned by the sun. With his multi pocket field jackets, epaulettes and drawstrings at the waist he made a perfect collection for a budding world explorer.

Duckie Brown

“We wanted to do a collection where every single piece is a different fabrication. Every piece is a different print, texture or color,” says Daniel Silver about the Duckie Brown Spring 2011 collection, which feels like a dress code of dive bar hipsters in Thailand. The quirky fusion of color, pattern and proportion (like a bug-print long shirt worn with tartan trousers) created a quintessential East-meets-West look.

Billy Reid

Billy Reid showed pieces with heritage, heirloom buckled belts and hand-tailored patchwork madras jackets, which evoked a sense of history and antiquity, a kind of thing that tempts you to travel, to adventure and to become a historical legend.
