Prince William Reportedly Prefers Prince Harry to Stay Away from His Future Coronation Amid Ongoing Feud, Friends Reveal
Prince William reportedly does not want his younger brother, Prince Harry, to attend his future coronation, as the two brothers have not spoken for nearly two years. According to friends of the Prince of Wales, the once-close brothers are now deeply estranged, and their relationship shows no signs of improving.
The brothers, who grew up sharing a close-knit circle of friends, are now embroiled in a bitter feud that has persisted for years. Sources close to Prince William have indicated that he wants his coronation to “look and feel different” when the time comes, and it appears that Harry will not be part of the event.
William is believed to have had no contact with Harry since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral nearly two years ago. When the Princess of Wales publicly revealed her cancer diagnosis in March—a development that William did not share with Harry in advance—sources close to the Sussexes said they reached out to William and Kate privately, but their efforts were met with silence.
For now, it seems that William has no intention of reconciling with Harry. A friend of William’s told The Sunday Times, “This year his focus has very much been on his wife, his children, and his father. His brother isn’t really something that’s discussed.” Another close friend described the brothers as “estranged, which is dreadfully sad.”
Since stepping down as senior working royals in 2020, Harry and Meghan Markle have relocated to California with their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. However, their departure from the Royal Family has been followed by a series of shocking allegations made by Harry, particularly in his memoir Spare and the couple’s Netflix docuseries, further straining his relationship with William.
The situation worsened after the release of Spare, in which Harry suggested that Kate was cold towards Meghan, a claim that has reportedly left William unwilling to forgive his brother. The two were last seen together at King Charles III’s coronation in May, where they were seated separately, and Harry made a quick exit after the ceremony.
Harry visited the UK earlier this year but did not meet with either King Charles or Prince William. Despite being in the same city, the brothers did not connect, with reports indicating that Harry stayed in a hotel rather than accepting his father’s offer to stay at a royal residence.
While there remains hope that King Charles and Harry might reconcile at the upcoming Invictus Games in Canada in February, it is unclear whether the brothers will ever repair their fractured relationship. A friend of King Charles noted, “I think he would acknowledge it would be a good thing to go to. He would not want to look punitive.”
