Fashion and cultural commentator Tom Fitzgerald has shared candid insights about Meghan Markle, shedding light on her personality and questioning some of the claims made by the Duchess of Sussex in recent years.
Speaking with Vanity Fair for its February issue, Fitzgerald described Meghan as someone who meticulously plans and pays attention to details. “Meghan is the type of woman who would check a menu out online before going to a restaurant to pick what she was going to eat,” he remarked, emphasizing her organized and deliberate nature.
This perspective led Fitzgerald to cast doubt on Meghan’s admission in the Harry & Meghan documentary, stating that she was unaware of royal protocols, such as curtsying to Queen Elizabeth II. “The idea that she didn’t know she was supposed to curtsy for the Queen, I just didn’t find it particularly believable,” he stated.
Fitzgerald explained further, “[Based on] everything she ever told us about herself, I cannot imagine that she went into meeting the royal family completely cold, with no research whatsoever.”
Additionally, Fitzgerald addressed Meghan’s claim that she was “forced” to wear neutral tones as a working royal to avoid upstaging Queen Elizabeth and other senior royals. He pointed out that Meghan’s wardrobe has remained largely neutral even after stepping down from royal duties.
“Her wardrobe hasn’t changed significantly, so I find that argument unconvincing,” Fitzgerald noted.
