Prince Harry’s ‘Problem’ with Sentebale Boss Reportedly Started with Meghan Markle

New details are emerging about the growing rift between Prince Harry and Sentebale chair Dr. Sophie Chandauka, and according to insiders, the seeds of discord may have been planted by Meghan Markle well before the charity controversy reached its peak.

According to a report by the US Sun., a source close to the organization claimed, “The problem, though, started with Meghan. Meghan doesn’t like Sophie.” Sentebale, the charity co-founded by Prince Harry in 2006 to support children and young people affected by HIV in Lesotho and Botswana, has recently become the subject of public scrutiny and internal conflict.

Reportedly, the tension between the Duchess of Sussex and Dr. Chandauka dates back to a Florida polo fundraiser, where their interaction was noticeably strained. While Dr. Chandauka greeted Meghan warmly, Meghan allegedly responded with a curt “Hi” before retreating to enjoy champagne with her close friend Serena Williams.

A source noted that Meghan “didn’t want to mingle or engage with those supporting the event,” despite Dr. Chandauka’s effort to introduce her around. The encounter reportedly deepened existing frustrations among key figures at the charity.

The Telegraph previously reported that Prince Harry’s team had asked Dr. Chandauka to publicly deny rumors of a rift between her and Meghan. When she declined, Harry allegedly responded with a note that insiders described as both “imperious” and “unpleasant.”

The situation has since escalated, with Dr. Chandauka accusing Prince Harry of attempting to oust her from Sentebale through “bullying” and “harassment.”

Prince Harry, who officially stepped down as patron of Sentebale in March, broke his silence on the matter earlier this week. In a strongly worded statement, he welcomed the Charity Commission’s investigation into the dispute and denounced what he described as “blatant lies” surrounding the fallout.

The rift between Harry and Dr. Chandauka has prompted concern over the future of Sentebale, once viewed as a cornerstone of Harry’s philanthropic work. Now, with internal divisions making headlines and the Duke publicly distancing himself, questions remain about the charity’s leadership and long-term direction.

As investigations continue and public interest grows, the personal dynamics behind the scenes—particularly Meghan Markle’s alleged role in the breakdown of relations—are drawing increased scrutiny. Whether these tensions will ultimately reshape the charity’s path remains to be seen.
