Prince Harry may be facing another emotional setback following his abrupt departure from Sentebale, the charity he co-founded in 2006 to honour his late mother, Princess Diana. Just days after announcing he was stepping down as patron of the organisation, a newly appointed trustee has already resigned, adding further turmoil to the charity’s recent internal struggles.
According to reports, Margaret Ikpoh, who joined Sentebale’s board on March 25, has now stepped down — less than two weeks into her role — amid continued media scrutiny and an ongoing investigation into bullying allegations linked to the charity’s leadership.
In a statement released by Sentebale, the organisation acknowledged Ikpoh’s decision to resign, citing the pressure of the current circumstances. “This is a particularly difficult time to have joined the organisation, given the unexpected, sustained, and intrusive media attention,” the statement read. “She has chosen to step down out of respect for her family and other professional commitments, which we fully understand, respect, and support.”
The charity expressed gratitude for Ikpoh’s long-standing interest in Sentebale, adding, “We deeply appreciate her interest in Sentebale over a long period of time and look forward to staying in touch.”

This latest development comes on the heels of a much-publicised internal dispute that led to the resignations of both Prince Harry and co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho as patrons. Their exit followed tensions with Sentebale’s chairwoman, Sophie Chandauka, whom the board had reportedly asked to step down. The ongoing conflict has prompted the Charity Commission to open an investigation.
Sentebale, which translates to “forget-me-not” in Sesotho, was founded to support children and adolescents affected by HIV and AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana. It was one of Harry’s most personal initiatives, closely tied to his mother’s legacy and humanitarian work.
With Harry’s departure and now the resignation of a new trustee so soon after joining, the charity finds itself in a challenging moment. For Prince Harry, who once passionately championed Sentebale on the world stage, this series of events marks a poignant and deeply personal blow in a cause he once called the “core of my work.”
