Prince Harry leaves a lasting mark on veterans’ lives amid intense backlash

Prince Harry has received widespread praise for his role in founding the Invictus Games, as a military veteran opened up about how the Duke of Sussex profoundly impacted her life.

Michelle Turner, a 45-year-old military veteran and former Royal Air Force sergeant, defended Harry amidst criticism over his Pat Tillman Award. Turner, who has competed in the Invictus Games, commended Harry’s relatable and caring nature, noting that he gave her hope after she was diagnosed with a heart condition.

In an interview with People Magazine, Turner shared a poignant memory from the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. She recalled reading a poem during the event and being personally acknowledged by Harry afterward. “How do you ever thank somebody for changing your life, changing your family’s life? There are no words,” she said.

Turner further praised the Duke, stating, “All I see here is smiles. It is giving people a focus again. He is so relatable and so lovely to everybody, and he loves this Invictus Games.” She emphasized the unique impact of the Games, saying, “You struggle to explain the magic but people will be able to come along and see it for themselves and feel that magic and inspiration. We will fill the stands.”

This heartfelt endorsement comes in the wake of Harry’s announcement that the Invictus Games would return to the UK almost 13 years after they were first held in the country. Turner’s words highlight the deep and positive influence Harry has had on veterans through the Invictus Games, underscoring the event’s significance and Harry’s dedication to the cause.
