Piers Morgan Slams Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for Hypocrisy-Filled Colombia Trip
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing criticism for what some see as hypocrisy as they prepare for their upcoming trip to Colombia. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have come under fire from former GB News host Petra Morgan, who has labeled their visit a “fake Royal trip.”
Writing for The Sun, Morgan criticized the couple for continuing to present themselves as royals despite no longer performing any official duties for the monarchy. “Meghan and Harry aren’t real royals these days. They don’t do any actual duties for the institution which conferred their titles on them — they just line their pockets with cash in America by constantly trashing their families, and the monarchy, in the media,” Morgan stated.
Morgan questioned the legitimacy of their trip, asking, “So, what gives them the right to prance around the world pretending to be proper royals, on quasi-official visits?” He pointed out several issues with the visit, starting with what he called the “laughable hypocrisy” of the couple traveling to Colombia, a country with elevated risks of terrorism, kidnapping, and other dangers, according to UK and US government travel advisories.
Morgan also highlighted what he sees as inconsistency in Prince Harry’s actions. “After all of Harry’s whiny demands for taxpayer-funded royal security when he comes to the UK to ‘protect his family,’ their decision to go to one of the world’s most dangerous places is ironic,” he wrote.
Additionally, Morgan criticized the couple for supporting a Colombian government that has been plagued by scandal since coming to power, calling their decision to visit a questionable move.
The criticism from Morgan is the latest in a series of public attacks on the Duke and Duchess, who continue to face scrutiny for their actions and decisions since stepping back from their royal duties. As they prepare for their trip, the backlash serves as a reminder of the ongoing controversy surrounding their roles and the public perception of their activities.
