Meghan Markle’s service mentality questioned while she ‘flogs jam’

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich has criticized Meghan Markle’s latest business venture, calling it a “great comedown” from her once global ambitions to now selling jam.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, Fordwich reflected on Meghan and Prince Harry’s past promises of universal service and world-changing influence, contrasting it with her current business endeavor.

She remarked, “The [Duke and Duchess of Sussex], who were going to change lives for the better, influence world opinion and leaders, improve the environment and declared their life of service with their ‘service is universal’ statement… it’s reduced to flogging jam.”

Fordwich further noted that Netflix is attempting to keep the Sussex brand relevant with Netflix House, an upcoming immersive retail experience featuring exclusive merchandise, food, drinks, and more. However, she questioned whether Meghan’s jam sales align with the humanitarian image she once projected.

She asked pointedly, “One wonders if the proceeds from the jam will be donated to humanitarian causes. Is she going to feed them her jam? In keeping with their charitable and humanitarian causes, perhaps all the proceeds will be donated?”

Fordwich then doubted the charitable impact of Meghan’s business move, arguing that rather than “elevating the ordinary,” as Meghan claimed in her Netflix series, she is simply following a path others have already taken.

“While Meghan Markle claims to be ‘taking something ordinary and elevating it,’ as she worked in her series, she’s actually taking something others have already done… [She’s] not helping others nor doing anything charitably.”

Fordwich also questioned the target audience for Meghan’s jam brand, suggesting that its appeal might be limited to a small niche of dedicated fans and curious consumers.

“There isn’t a demographic this new endeavor appeals to, other than dedicated fans either side of the Atlantic or others who are curious, wanting to see if it’s any good.”

As Meghan Markle’s business ventures continue to spark debate, critics and supporters alike are left wondering whether this latest move is a sign of entrepreneurial success or a downward shift from her once-global ambitions.
