Meghan Markle’s given a strict warning due to her controversy-loving nature

Meghan Markle’s social media presence has sparked fresh discussions about self-image and brand management, with experts weighing in on how she can navigate public scrutiny while maintaining control over her narrative. PR and social media expert Caitlin Jardine of Ellis Digital recently spoke with GB News, analyzing Meghan’s increased Instagram activity and its impact on her public image.

Jardine suggested that the Duchess of Sussex is using social media strategically to shape perceptions, particularly following the release of her Netflix show. “Meghan Markle’s next steps on Instagram will be crucial in keeping up her image and brand, now that her Netflix show has been released,” Jardine explained.

She emphasized that timing will play a crucial role in how Meghan manages ongoing discussions. While acknowledging conversations about the show could help her maintain control of the narrative, Jardine cautioned against direct engagement in any controversial debates.

“Responding to comments and discussions around the show will allow her to remain in control of the narrative by sharing her perspective and answering any questions that viewers may have after watching,” Jardine noted. “Ignoring criticism around her show could only cause it to hang around for longer, potentially encouraging more negativity with viewers frustrated with her lack of response.”

However, Jardine also warned that engaging too much could lead to unintended consequences. “To avoid getting caught up in any controversial discussion that may come back to bite her, she should instead focus on highlighting all of the positive elements of the show, such as its themes of empowerment that align with her brand,” she advised.

If criticism of the show becomes overwhelming, Jardine suggested an alternative approach: “In that case, an indirect yet sincere statement as a post on Instagram could be more effective. As we’ve seen with many celebrities and influencers facing backlash, reinforcing her personal values and mission would prove to be a lot more effective than a defensive response, to avoid adding fuel to the fire.”

Jardine believes Meghan’s long-term success on social media will depend on staying true to the themes that have shaped her brand—motherhood, wellness, and advocacy for important causes. “Her brand largely focuses on her journey navigating motherhood, wellness, as well as advocacy for important causes, and her Instagram should continue to reflect this,” Jardine concluded.

“As long as she partners with other like-minded brands and influencers that allow her content to come across as genuine, she can reinforce her credibility and relevance on the platform.”
