Meghan Markle Could Write Sensational Memoir but Warns of Backlash Amid Royal Health Concerns
Meghan Markle is reportedly considering following Prince Harry’s lead by releasing a memoir detailing her life as a royal. However, ongoing issues, including the threat of Prince Harry’s possible deportation and current health concerns within the Royal Family, may be delaying the project, according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams.
Fitzwilliams shared his insights with The Express, noting the significant implications such a memoir could have for both Meghan and the Royal Family. “In theory, there is no reason why Meghan could not write a memoir. It would almost certainly sell well, probably very well, but as she knows perfectly well, that would depend on how sensational it was,” Fitzwilliams stated.
He suggested that timing is a critical factor for the Duchess of Sussex. “At present, with two senior royals ill, she would appear uncaring and callous if she launched further attacks on or caused embarrassment to the Royal Family,” Fitzwilliams explained.
The health concerns he referenced involve King Charles III and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, both of whom are reportedly dealing with ongoing health issues. Fitzwilliams also highlighted another potential hurdle for Meghan: the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Prince Harry’s U.S. immigration status. The Duke of Sussex’s admission of past drug use in his memoir, Spare, has sparked speculation about whether his visa application accurately disclosed this information.
“There is also a fear that Donald Trump, especially if he felt provoked in any way, might seek to open the investigation as to whether Harry declared the drug taking he discussed so openly in Spare and when promoting the memoir on his visa application,” Fitzwilliams noted.
He added, “The bolthole the Sussexes reportedly have in Portugal might come in useful sooner than they supposed!” Another challenge Meghan may face is deciding how much to reveal about her own family. “It is also unclear how much she would want to reveal about her own family. She is, bar her mother Doria, estranged from all of them,” Fitzwilliams said.
While a memoir from Meghan would undoubtedly generate significant interest and could potentially offer a new perspective on royal life, the timing, and potential fallout appear to be holding her back. For now, the Duchess of Sussex remains focused on her entrepreneurial ventures and charitable work, but the possibility of a memoir continues to loom, sparking speculation about what it might reveal and when it could come to light. Whether Meghan ultimately decides to publish her story will depend not only on timing but also on the delicate balance of personal and royal dynamics.
