Meghan Markle’s Father Reveals Heartfelt Message to Grandchildren and Plans to Leave America

Thomas Markle, estranged father of Meghan Markle, has made headlines once again with a candid interview revealing his plans to leave America in 2025 and his heartfelt hopes to reconnect with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Mr. Markle, 80, shared his aspirations to relocate from Rosarito, Mexico—his home for the past decade—to Southeast Asia, citing a desire for a more peaceful and kind environment in his twilight years.

“I am getting away from the politics of the States that disappoints me,” he told the Mail on Sunday. “At 80, it is time to go somewhere where the people are lovely, and I can enjoy a quieter, friendlier existence.”

His choice to consider Southeast Asia stems from its affordability, quality healthcare, and cultural respect for elders. “In South-East Asia, the medical care is good, you can live reasonably cheaply, the people are kind and respect older people, and the food is healthy,” he explained.

However, it isn’t just about a change of scenery. Mr. Markle expressed his deep yearning for peace, following years of public family drama and personal health struggles, including two heart attacks and a stroke.

“Mostly, I just want peace. At 80, none of us know how long we have left. I want whatever time I have to be peaceful, with none of the awful drama of recent years,” he said.

Estranged But Still Hopeful

The rift between Mr. Markle and Meghan has been widely publicized, with their estrangement dating back to 2018, before her marriage to Prince Harry. Despite their differences, he conveyed his unwavering love for his daughter.

“I don’t like some of the things my daughter has done, but I will always love her. My door is always open to her. I love her, and that will never change. I love all my children,” he said.

When it comes to Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, Mr. Markle admitted he has never met them but remains hopeful.

“I’ve come to accept I most likely never will, but the door remains constantly open for them,” he said.

Dreams of a Family Reunion

Mr. Markle also empathized with King Charles, who, like him, has limited access to his grandchildren. “I’m a grandfather, and he is King of England—but he too is a grandfather who would like to see his grandkids,” he reflected.

As he prepares for a new chapter, Mr. Markle expressed his dream of bringing the family back together. “I wish her no ill-will. My dream is that one day I could bring my whole family together, like a ‘normal’ family,” he said.

Looking Ahead

Accompanied by his son, Thomas Markle Jr., he plans to explore potential new homes in Southeast Asia. “I don’t know where I’ll end up, but it is time to move on and find a place where I can live among kind people and enjoy the time I have left,” he shared.

While his journey to find peace continues, one thing remains certain: Thomas Markle’s love for his daughter and grandchildren remains steadfast, even amid the turmoil. For now, he holds onto the hope that one day, the divide will be bridged.

“My door is always open,” he reiterated, a poignant reminder of his enduring hope for reconciliation.
