Meghan Markle exposed Prince Harry as a ‘Liability’ to her future with new move

Meghan Markle’s recent media ventures have stirred fresh waves of criticism, with royal commentator Amanda Platell suggesting the Duchess of Sussex may now see Prince Harry as more of a hindrance than a help in her Hollywood ambitions.

Writing in The Daily Mail, Platell weighed in on the couple’s faltering popularity in the United States and the mixed reception of Meghan’s new Netflix cooking series, With Love, Meghan. The show briefly landed in Netflix’s Top 10 but quickly dropped off, with critics pointing to noticeable flaws and a lack of staying power.

“Harry and Meghan’s popularity is tanking in America, with their $100million Netflix deal due to end this year,” Platell wrote. “This really is their last-chance saloon.” Platell then questioned whether Meghan focused on launching a solo brand in the entertainment world, and now views her husband as a drawback to her success.

“You have to ask whether Meghan, so dependent on the success of her new ventures, feels Harry has now become a liability to her rather than an asset.” In a particularly pointed remark, Platell mocked the idea of Harry making a cameo in Meghan’s baking show.

“Crikey, what if Harry had appeared on With Love, Meghan while she gleefully sieved the fine white flour for her honey-drivel cake and got a bit of white powder on his nose?” she wrote, before adding sarcastically, “Imagine the headlines. Better to leave him on the sidelines walking the dogs and feeding the chooks than tarnish her reputation.”

Despite the criticism, the show has generated buzz around Meghan’s personal recipes—particularly her tomato spaghetti, which Platell acknowledged with a wry twist. “One thing’s for sure. After the success of Meg’s one-pot tomato spaghetti, we shouldn’t expect With Love, Meghan Part Two to include a recipe for one-pot mushroom fettuccine any time soon, however magic it is,” she concluded.

The remarks come as speculation continues to grow over the couple’s next steps following the looming expiration of their high-profile Netflix contract. Whether Harry will remain part of Meghan’s on-screen ventures—or be quietly sidelined—remains a subject of increasing scrutiny in both royal and Hollywood circles.
