Meghan Markle’s recent solo foray into the public eye has reignited speculation surrounding her relationship with the Royal Family and her standing alongside her husband, Prince Harry. With Harry currently in the UK for a legal battle and King Charles on a state visit to Italy, the overlapping events have led to renewed commentary on the growing distance within the Royal ranks.
Royal commentator Cameron Walker weighed in on the situation in a recent piece for GB News, offering insight into the Sussexes’ public image, timing controversies, and their apparent disconnection from royal circles.

“Of course, Meghan Markle is not producing her podcast by herself. She is helped by a dedicated team at Lemonada Media—a female-founded production company,” Walker wrote. “I suspect Meghan did not get a final say on the release date.”
Walker dismissed theories that the release of Meghan’s podcast was intentionally scheduled to coincide with King Charles and Queen Camilla’s state visit, calling it a commercial decision rather than a calculated move to upstage the monarch. However, he emphasized the optics of the situation. “It does shine a light on the Sussex strategy and the risk of unintended consequences,” he noted.

The royal expert pointed out that the clash in timing could have been avoided with a bit more awareness. “A simple check of the Royal Diary would have clearly shown the State Visit inked in—perhaps leading to a less controversial release date being chosen instead.”
He further questioned whether Harry and Meghan still have access to sensitive royal information now that they are no longer senior working royals. “It was not public knowledge until around a month ago,” he explained. “Does this suggest Prince Harry and Meghan no longer have access to royal secrets?”

“Does Buckingham Palace trust them to keep confidential information to themselves in the wake of the infamous Oprah Winfrey interview, memoir, and Netflix series? I suspect not,” Walker added.
As Prince Harry faces off with the UK government in court over the loss of his security privileges and King Charles strengthens diplomatic ties abroad, the divide between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family appears to be widening.
“Whatever the outcome of Prince Harry’s court battles, and however successful the King and Queen’s State Visit to Italy turns out to be, The Duke of Sussex could remain isolated from his father and brother for the foreseeable future,” Walker concluded. The latest developments paint a picture of a family still deeply fractured—both publicly and behind closed doors.
