Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing growing backlash for their silence following serious allegations of racism involving one of Prince Harry’s own charity chairpersons.
Dr. Sophie Chandauka, the chair of Sentebale — the charity co-founded by Prince Harry in 2006 — has reportedly accused the royal of racism, prompting calls for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to publicly address the issue. Despite their history of speaking out about racism and online abuse, the couple has so far remained silent, drawing criticism from royal watchers and experts.
Royal commentator Lee Cohen, writing for The Sun, questioned the couple’s apparent inconsistency in speaking out. “Opening up emotionally in a 2020 podcast, she made it clear she felt overwhelmed by the sting of social media after joining the Royal Family,” he wrote, referring to Meghan’s prior disclosures about the abuse she faced after becoming a royal.
Cohen continued, “So now we have to ask: if Meghan truly understands the cruel impact of online abuse, why won’t she and Prince Harry condemn the disgraceful behaviour of their so-called ‘Sussex Squad’ supporters who have repeatedly stirred up unforgivable chaos?”

The call for accountability comes amid a turbulent period for Sentebale, as internal tensions and public scrutiny mount. The silence from Meghan and Harry has been described as particularly concerning given their previous advocacy for mental health awareness and social justice.
“This question hangs heavier than ever amid the bitter fallout at Sentebale,” Cohen added, underscoring the growing expectation for the couple to respond.
Meghan, who was candid in her 2021 Oprah interview about feeling isolated and mistreated during her time as a working royal, has often been praised for speaking truth to power. But critics are now pointing to what they see as a double standard — urging the couple to uphold the same transparency and activism within their own circles.
So far, no official statement has been released by Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, or Sentebale regarding Dr. Chandauka’s claims. However, pressure continues to build as supporters and critics alike wait to see if the Sussexes will break their silence on an issue that strikes at the core of their public identity.
