King Charles Opens Up About Cancer Struggles During Meeting with New Zealand Women’s Rugby Team

During a recent meeting with New Zealand’s women’s rugby team at Buckingham Palace, King Charles candidly shared details about his ongoing cancer battle. The monarch revealed that he would not be able to visit New Zealand in October due to “doctor’s orders,” raising concerns about his health and ongoing treatment.
Despite his health challenges, King Charles remained in good spirits, showcasing his trademark humor. While speaking to the team, he encouraged them to “make the most of your time” and expressed his hope for their success.
“I am extremely sorry I can’t come to New Zealand in late October because of doctor’s orders,” Charles said. “But I hope there will be another excuse before too long.” He added, “In the meantime, give my love to New Zealand, please, and New Zealanders. We get lots of nice Kiwis coming here to this part of the world as well, so we are very lucky indeed.”
The King also reflected on aging during the conversation, offering a lighthearted but poignant comment. “And I hope you make the most of your time in the team because you don’t stay young for very long, as I discovered—it all goes quicker than you think,” he said, eliciting laughter from the team, with Charles chuckling along. Charles wrapped up the conversation with well wishes for the team. “I do hope you have great success,” he said.
The monarch’s update on his health follows Buckingham Palace’s announcement in February when they first shared news of his cancer diagnosis. While Charles continues his battle, his optimistic attitude and willingness to engage with the public remain evident, even during this challenging time.
