King Charles has reportedly remained hopeful for a true reconciliation with his son, Prince Harry, despite their ongoing estrangement since Harry and Meghan Markle left the UK.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier shared insights into the King’s emotions in a conversation with The Sun, explaining that while Charles may not appreciate Meghan’s continued references to her royal roots, he is hesitant to take any action against the couple.

“I doubt King Charles would like Meghan making references to the importance of Sussex as her name, but I’ve always felt he’s reluctant to start any process of stripping her and Harry of their titles,” Dampier said.
One reason for this hesitation is the logistical challenge of removing titles, which would be a difficult and complex process. However, the expert also noted that the King’s primary concern is avoiding further damage to his relationship with Harry.

“He doesn’t want to make the rift any worse,” Dampier explained. “He is hoping one day there might be a reconciliation with his son.”
While Prince Harry has made several trips to the UK in recent years, his meetings with King Charles have been infrequent. Additionally, neither Meghan nor their children have visited the UK since attending the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.

A major factor in their absence, as Prince Harry revealed in ITV’s Tabloids on Trial, is security concerns. During the interview, Harry expressed fears that Meghan could face an acid or knife attack from the public.
Despite the challenges, the King’s reluctance to sever ties completely indicates his enduring hope for a future reunion. However, with tensions still high and little progress made, the possibility of a full reconciliation remains uncertain.
