Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Considered Moving to New Zealand in 2018

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were supposedly planning a move to the South Pacific country three years ago – according to a report.

After stepping down from their royal duties, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are living happily in California. Before that, they were said to have discussed a potential move to New Zealand.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are presently residing in Montecito, California, in their $14 million mansion. The couple moved to Canada and subsequently to the United States shortly after declaring their stepping back from royal duties.

However, before relocating to California, the royal couple was rumoured to be considering relocating to New Zealand. According to Governor-General Patsy Reddy, they met for a drink at the Abel Tasman national park.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle both stated that they could see themselves living in the said place. The royal couple even wondered if it would be “theoretically possible.”

“Of course, we said sure. It would be fine. There are lots of opportunities to live in New Zealand, but that would be something that they’d have to explore,” Reddy told them.

She went on to say that the Sussexes were thinking about how they would raise their family. She was also under the impression that they had made some decisions since.

Reddy stated that she did not consider the conversation about moving as a formal request for assistance. She, on the other hand, saw it as a casual talk about their future plans.

The Sussexes, she said, were impressed with the country’s availability to the outdoors and interactions with the Kiwi.

After a 16-day royal tour of the South Pacific, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paid a visit to New Zealand in 2018. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex participated in several activities during their tour.

The couple was welcomed with a formal powhiri at Te Papaiouru Marae in Rotorua. They also visited Whakarewarewa Forest in the Redwoods, where they learned about the forest’s history – the source says.

They also took part in a tree walk among 117-year-old trees. In addition, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met with members of the local biking community.

According to Micky, when they met with the bikers, Prince Harry told them how fortunate they were to have such a place. The royal couple did not get the opportunity to ride with the bikers, however, they hoped to be back. Markle described the place as “great” and “really special.”

“Bye, guys, enjoy this heaven,” Prince Harry told them.
