Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are facing intense backlash yet again, as a royal expert brands the couple “toxic” amid fresh racism allegations from one of their own charity directors.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, already under public pressure for their silence following accusations made by Dr. Sophie Chandauka — the chair of Prince Harry’s charity Sentebale — are now being warned that their public image may be taking a serious hit.

Royal commentator Richard Palmer didn’t hold back in his assessment during a conversation with The Sun‘s Matt Wilkinson.
“It has been a catastrophic few days for Harry and Meghan hasn’t it,” Palmer said, pointing to the worsening fallout from the allegations.
Their reputation, which Palmer said is “already fairly low,” has taken a further dive, particularly due to the identity of the accuser.
“To have a black woman who is head of your charity accuse you of the very things other people have accused you of for many years — it couldn’t get much worse really,” Palmer noted.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously made global headlines with their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they accused unnamed members of the Royal Family of racist behavior toward their son, Prince Archie. The latest accusation of racism now being tied to their own charitable organization has left royal commentators questioning the couple’s credibility.
Palmer also suggested that while Dr. Chandauka “has her faults and maybe she’s not perfect,” the pattern of accusations related to bullying and mistreatment can no longer be ignored.

This incident marks another addition to the growing list of controversies surrounding the couple since their departure from the Royal Family in 2020. Prince Harry and Meghan now reside in California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, focusing on philanthropic efforts and media ventures.
However, critics argue that the couple’s handling of recent events is doing little to repair their image. The silence from the Sussexes on Dr. Chandauka’s claims has led some to question their commitment to the values they frequently champion, especially around inclusion and equity.
As scrutiny intensifies, many await whether the couple will finally break their silence or allow their reputation to spiral further.
