“They’re Revealing Themselves as Dictators”: Tulsi Gabbard Attacks Democrats Over Hurricane Response

During her appearance on Fox News Wednesday night, former Democratic congresswoman and Trump supporter Tulsi Gabbard criticized her former party, labeling them as ‘dictators’ with a ‘twisted’ mindset. The ex-representative from Hawaii made these explosive remarks while discussing the response to Hurricane Milton, prompted by host Jesse Watters’s question about perceived “misinformation” from Democrats.
“This misinformation B.S. which they’re trafficking in all day – they talk about that more than they talk about the hurricane – what’s that all about?” Watters asked at the start of the segment. “They’re really exposing themselves, Jesse,” Gabbard responded. “They claim to be defenders of democracy, but they’re revealing themselves over and over again to be dictators.”
She elaborated, arguing that Democrats see themselves as authoritarian figures. “That’s what we’re seeing. They see themselves like dictators do, as the country. And anyone who dares to criticize them is therefore committing a crime, or traitorous, or disloyal to the country. This is how twisted their mindset is, and quite frankly, how dangerous it is.”
Gabbard, who has reportedly taken an active role in former President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign and assisted him in preparing for his September debate against Vice President Kamala Harris, further claimed that her former party “doesn’t actually care about the Constitution, or free speech, or the First Amendment.”
She continued by arguing that Democrats are more concerned with preventing “the American people from criticizing them when they are failing to fulfill” their responsibility to help those in need during crises. “It is infuriating to see,” she said, before sharing an anecdote about “our fellow Americans drinking water from a polluted lake in western North Carolina because they have no water.”
Gabbard concluded her segment by echoing a false GOP claim, suggesting that FEMA is only offering $750 per person in disaster areas. “They’re like, ‘Screw $750 — bring me clean water,’” she said, implying that people in affected areas were being left without adequate support.
Gabbard’s comments, while aligned with her support for Trump, underscore her growing criticism of the Democratic Party’s approach to disaster response and her stance on how Democrats handle public scrutiny. Her remarks reflect an increasingly confrontational rhetoric as she aligns herself more closely with Trump’s campaign narrative.
