Donald Trump recently survived an assassination attempt, and according to insiders, he may have gained a new perspective on life. A Florida lawmaker in touch with Trump’s inner circle revealed that the Republican front-runner is a “changed man” following the shooting incident. Trump, who is running for the presidential election in November, was attacked by a 20-year-old gunman during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Rep. Maria Salazar, a self-described born-again Christian, spoke to someone “very close” to the 78-year-old who mentioned that the changes in Trump are so noticeable that everyone around him can feel his sense of awakening. “He believes that God has given him another opportunity. He believes that God spared his life and that he is a – I’m not sure if spiritual is the word or the adjective. I’m not sure if it’s more contemplative. But I do know that he is a different man,” Salazar told Daily Mail.

Trump made his first appearance at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee after being injured, and the cheering crowd witnessed a slightly different demeanor. While he still commanded the space boldly, his demeanor during the benediction, where “his eyes were closed” and he “prayed the whole time,” surprised many.

Salazar elaborated, “That changes you as a person. And when you change as a person internally because somehow the powers of heaven have touched you, then you start leading a different life … This is like BC and AD.” She emphasized that God gave Trump a “second opportunity” to unite a divided America.

Echoing this sentiment, Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., described the impact of the gunshot on his father. At an Axios event, he was asked, “How long will this new Trump last?” Don Jr. replied, “You know, I think it lasts. There are events that change you for a couple [of] minutes and there are events that change you permanently.” He also noted that while Trump will remain reactionary, his rhetoric might be reined in somewhat.

“He’s going to be tough when he has to be. We’ve seen that, he’s never gonna change. But I think there will be something. I think these are momentous occasions that change people permanently,” Don Jr. told USA Today. Following the shooting incident on July 13, 2024, Trump’s campaign has shifted the MAGA tone toward “unity,” emphasizing the ex-president’s change. However, his latest post after Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed his Classified Documents case shows he retains his characteristic rhetoric of being a victim of political persecution, using terms like “Witch Hunts” and “Zombie case.”

On Truth Social, Trump wrote, “As we move forward in Uniting our Nation after the horrific events on Saturday, this dismissal of the Lawless Indictment in Florida should be just the first step, followed quickly by the dismissal of ALL the Witch Hunts. The Democrat Justice Department coordinated ALL of these Political Attacks, which are an Election Interference conspiracy against Joe Biden’s Political Opponent, ME.” The evolution in Trump’s demeanor and rhetoric continues to unfold as he navigates the aftermath of the assassination attempt and his ongoing political battles.
