In a stunning development, CNN interrupted its regular weekend programming to deliver a breaking news update that dealt a significant blow to U.S. President Donald Trump’s standing with the American public.
During a special segment of CNN Newsroom, host Jessica Dean welcomed Chief Data Analyst Harry Enten to analyze the latest approval rating figures, which mark a sharp decline for President Trump as he nears the 100-day milestone of his second term. According to CNN, Trump’s ratings are now among the lowest ever recorded for any newly elected president at this stage, dating back to the Eisenhower administration.

On air, Enten described Trump’s overall approval number of 41% as “horrible,” noting that it has slipped from 44% recorded during the same period in 2017. The figures were part of a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS.
Jessica Dean added more concerning details, stating: “60% of Americans disapprove of his handling of foreign affairs. Our panel back with us – Harry, 60% disapprove. In a second slide we have, the confidence in Trump to handle foreign affairs, 27% say they have a lot of confidence, some confidence at 23%, 50% no confidence!”
Responding to the figures, Enten chuckled grimly and said, “Yeah, I don’t think that’s a particularly good rating. Any of those numbers are just horrible, and there’s no historical precedent!”

Highlighting the historic nature of the low ratings, Enten emphasized, “I think this is the thing I keep going back to – you compare where Donald Trump is right now on foreign policy, his approval rating, you can go all the way back through the record books. We’ve been testing foreign policy approval ratings at this point of a presidency since Carter in 1977.”

“It’s the lowest on record. You just look, on issue after issue, whether it’s our poll or another poll, when it comes to foreign policy, and Trump is consistently below. They do not like what he is doing,” he added, referencing a report from the Express.
Political commentator Brian Krassenstein also weighed in critically, posting: “Breaking: Only 39% of Americans approve of Trump’s foreign policies. In other words, he does not have a mandate! These are some of the worst numbers any president in American history has had in their first 100 days.”
Beyond foreign affairs, Trump’s approval ratings have suffered across multiple areas, including economic management, immigration policy, federal government operations, and even his influence on arts, culture, and American history, showing a widespread erosion of confidence among the electorate.
