Bradley Bartell is struggling with regret after his wife, Camila Muñoz, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), leaving him to question his vote for President Donald Trump. The couple was returning from their honeymoon in Puerto Rico last month when Muñoz was pulled aside by an ICE agent at the airport.
Despite having no criminal record, she was taken into custody. According to USA TODAY, Muñoz was one of several women who entered the country legally but were detained at airports under stricter immigration enforcement policies.

“If you are not a citizen of the United States, and you are going through an immigration process, your first thought needs to be: How can this process be weaponized against me?” said Nora Ahmed of the ACLU in an interview with the publication.
Muñoz had overstayed her visa but was actively going through the legal process to become a permanent U.S. resident. That process, however, did not prevent her from being detained. “What the f— do I do?” Bartell recalled thinking as ICE agents took his wife away. Muñoz is now being held at a private detention facility in Louisiana, leaving Bartell distressed about her well-being.
“Emotionally, I’m concerned for her,” he told USA TODAY. “It can’t be easy being trapped in a room with 100 other people. They don’t have anything in there. It’s just so wasteful.” The situation has prompted the couple to reflect on Bartell’s support for Trump, particularly the administration’s strict immigration policies.
