Trump Trolls Harris, Clinton, and Obama with Viral Parody Video from Carter Funeral
President-elect Donald Trump took his trolling game to new heights with a parody video posted on Instagram, poking fun at Vice President Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, and former President Barack Obama. The clip, shared on January 12, reimagined a viral moment of Trump and Obama chatting at Jimmy Carter’s funeral, held on January 9 at the National Cathedral.
The real-life footage showed Trump and Obama in what appeared to be a surprisingly friendly conversation before the service. Speculation swirled about what the two could have been discussing, and Trump, never one to miss a chance to entertain, offered his own interpretation with a spoof video, according to the New York Post.
In the parody, dubbed audio over the footage imagined a playful exchange. “I knew you’d win,” a fake Obama voice says. “Oh really? Come on,” faux Trump replies. “Anyone could beat her.” The “her” is revealed to be Kamala Harris, as the dubbed Obama voice continues, admitting he tried to help Harris but calling her “horrendous.”
The video also mocked Harris entering the funeral with her husband, Doug Emhoff, and sitting in front of Trump and Obama. The fake audio depicts the pair ridiculing her behind her back.
Hillary Clinton wasn’t spared either. The dubbed Trump voice joked, “You know what I realized? Hillary still hates me so much. She’ll never forgive me,” as the camera panned to Clinton, who appeared less than pleased sitting beside her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
Trump later addressed the viral video during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, reflecting on his interaction with Obama. “I said, ‘Boy, they look like two people that like each other.’ And we probably do,” Trump said. “We have a little different philosophies, right? But we probably do. I don’t know. We just got along. But I got along with just about everybody.”
Professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman offered a different perspective on the exchange, suggesting that Trump and Obama had discussed policy matters. According to Freeman, Trump mentioned, “I’ve pulled out of that. It’s the conditions. Can you imagine that?”—possibly referencing his withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal or the Paris Climate Agreement.
Obama reportedly laughed and responded, “Listen to me, it’s a chore, a chore,” to which Trump replied, “Yeah, right. I can’t think of anything that’s a chore.” The viral clip, blending humor and speculation, has added another layer to Trump’s signature media antics.
