President Donald Trump is facing intense backlash after reports surfaced that he will not attend the dignified transfer of four U.S. soldiers killed in Lithuania — opting instead to attend a LIV Golf dinner at his Doral resort in Miami.
According to NBC News, the fallen soldiers, who died last month during a training exercise when their vehicle sank, are scheduled to arrive at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. However, Trump is expected to be hundreds of miles away, participating in a reception event for the Saudi-backed golf tournament.

The president’s decision has sparked widespread outrage, particularly among veterans, political analysts, and even some conservative voices.
“Thousands of Lithuanians lined the streets with dignity and respect to honor the four lost American soldiers,” political strategist Matt McDermott wrote on X.. “Trump prioritized golf over their dignified transfer.” He later added simply: “No words,” linking to the NBC report.
Former federal prosecutor Ron Filipkowski posted on Bluesky, “A man’s gotta have a code. Trump’s code is that the Saudis are paying him millions to host the golf tournament, so that’s where he is.”
Veterans were especially vocal in their condemnation. One retired Naval officer, posting under the handle @forensicguy, wrote: “He couldn’t even find an hour out of his day to honor fallen soldiers in Lithuania. That is the ‘person’ that MAGA, including some deluded veterans, honors. I’m a 40-year veteran. Trump is dishonorable.”
The progressive group MeidasTouch also weighed in, posting on X: “Trump is attending his Saudi-backed LIV Golf dinner instead of honoring our fallen soldiers. Lithuania, on the other hand, is showing them the respect they deserve.”

Even Republicans who oppose Trump didn’t mince words. Their response on X was summed up in a single post: “Disgraceful.”
The dignified transfer of fallen service members is a solemn military ritual, attended by presidents from both parties for decades. Trump’s absence from the event has reignited criticisms about his treatment of the military, with many pointing out his previous controversial comments about service members.
With the nation watching and emotions running high, critics say this latest decision sends a troubling message about the president’s priorities.
