“You Just Did It Again!” Trump Slams ABC’s Stephanopoulos Over Racial Slurs
In the early hours of Tuesday, a furious Donald Trump launched a barrage of anger in response to accusations from an ABC News correspondent regarding racial slurs. The outburst followed a contentious interview where the former president’s remarks about Vice President Kamala Harris’ race were called into question.
Trump took to Truth Social just after midnight to vent his frustration with ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos. He referred to a recent interview where Stephanopoulos questioned a Florida Republican who was defending Trump’s controversial comments about Harris.
“I watched three weeks ago as George Slopadopolus interviewed Crooked Joe Biden, doing everything possible to keep him in the race after his terrible Presidential Debate performance,” Trump posted at around 12:20 a.m. ET. “Liddle’ George, of ABC FAKE NEWS, was so solicitous and nice, asking easy questions and doing whatever was necessary to make Sleepy, the WORST President in the history of our Country (Kamabla is the WORST V.P.), look alert and sharp. It didn’t work, but he tried!”
Trump has recently intensified his anti-media rhetoric, especially after his responses at the National Association of Black Journalists convention drew widespread criticism. Commentators condemned his answers as racist, further fueling the controversy surrounding his remarks.
ABC News has been a focal point of Trump’s ire, particularly after correspondent Rachel Scott challenged him to justify his statements that Black lawmakers should “go back where they came from” and his descriptions of Black prosecutors as “rabid” and “animals.” Trump continued his criticism during an appearance on influencer Adin Ross’ livestream, where he insulted Scott again, saying, “I didn’t know who she was, but she was nasty.”
Although Trump did not mention Scott in his latest rant, he was visibly incensed that Stephanopoulos pressed Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) to defend Trump’s comments on Harris’ race. During the interview, Stephanopoulos pointed out the racial undertones in Donald’s defense, saying, “You just did it again! Every single answer you gave, you repeated the slur.”
Trump echoed his previous day’s insults toward Scott and directed them at Stephanopoulos, accusing him of unfairly targeting Donalds. “I watched Slopadopolus viciously attack Congressman Byron Donalds, a future star in the Republican Party, with nasty and totally inappropriate questions, the exact opposite of the treatment given to Crooked Joe. The good news is that Byron swatted him away like a fly, not to be heard from again!”
In a subsequent post, Trump criticized Harris, labeling her a coward—a term increasingly used against Trump by some Truth Social users after he declined an ABC News debate. Trump demanded that Harris debate him on Fox News, asserting, “Kamabla Harris is afraid. Will be easier to defeat on the Debate Stage than Crooked Joe Biden, just watch!” This latest outburst underscores the escalating tension between Trump and the media, particularly as he faces scrutiny over his racially charged comments.
