As Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) and Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) took the stage for the CBS-moderated vice-presidential debate, former President Donald Trump watched intently—and he was not pleased. Throughout the evening, Trump expressed his frustrations openly, taking to social media to voice his displeasure with both the moderators and Governor Walz.

One of Trump’s immediate reactions was to criticize the debate’s moderators, Margaret Brennan and Norah O’Donnell. Despite CBS’s policy of avoiding direct fact-checks of candidates, the moderators found themselves intervening at various points to correct and manage the heated exchanges. An irate Trump took aim at them, exclaiming, “Both young ladies have been extremely biased Anchors!”

His discontent didn’t stop there. Turning his attention to Governor Walz, Trump unleashed a series of sharp criticisms. “He’s been indoctrinated with LIES, thinking he can override his own INCOMPETENCE. He’s as nervous as you can get!” Trump wrote in one post. His words reflected a deep disdain for Walz’s performance during the debate.

Observing Walz on stage, Trump mocked his note-taking habits. “Walz is taking so many notes—Never seen a Candidate take more! He needs the notes to keep his brain intact,” he quipped. The former president seemed intent on portraying Walz as unprepared and reliant on prompts to navigate the debate.

In a particularly pointed remark, Trump declared, “JD is doing GREAT—A different level of Intelligence from Tampon Tim!” This comment referenced a debunked claim that Walz had mandated the provision of menstrual products in boys’ bathrooms in Minnesota schools. The claim has been proven false, but Trump used the nickname to belittle the governor.

Trump’s frustration escalated when Walz highlighted the Biden administration’s achievements in passing a landmark bill that expanded healthcare access and promoted clean energy production. Reacting to this, Trump wrote, “The Administration admitted that the Inflation Reduction Act that Walz just brought up was a HOAX with a phony name that had nothing to do with Inflation Reduction. It’s been totally debunked by the Administration itself. It actually helped increase Inflation to the Highest in the History of our Country, devastating our Citizens!”

Throughout the debate, Trump’s reactions underscored his ongoing engagement with the political arena and his willingness to openly criticize both opponents and media figures. His sharp commentary aimed to influence public perception of the debate, casting doubt on the moderators’ impartiality and questioning Walz’s competence.

As the night unfolded, it became clear that Trump’s presence loomed large over the event, even from a distance. His unfiltered remarks served as a reminder of his persistent influence within the Republican Party and the broader political discourse.
