Former President Donald Trump announced that he would issue a live rebuttal to Vice President Kamala Harris’ address at the Democratic National Convention, just moments after it concluded. Trump revealed his plans on Thursday through a post on Truth Social, indicating that he would share his thoughts with Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

“I’ll be doing a call into Bret Baier and group after her Speech,” Trump wrote. “They’d like to know what I thought of it — I will be very honest in my assessment!”

Throughout Harris’ speech, Trump was active on Truth Social, posting a series of comments that took aim at his political opponents. One of his remarks targeted Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate, in an attempt to downplay his credentials. “Walz was an ASSISTANT Coach,” Trump pointed out, emphasizing, “Not a COACH.”

In another post, Trump revived a familiar refrain, questioning the whereabouts of President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. “WHERE’S HUNTER?” Trump asked, continuing his long-standing criticism of the Biden family.

Harris, in her address, did not shy away from criticizing Trump directly. She warned of the dangers she believes a second Trump presidency would pose, stating, “Just imagine Donald Trump with no guardrails and how he would use the immense powers of the presidency…to serve the only client he has ever had; himself.” Harris ended with a resolute declaration: “We are not going back.”

Trump’s promise of an “honest assessment” following Harris’ speech sets the stage for a direct and likely confrontational response. His comments during her address, coupled with Harris’ pointed criticisms, underscore the deep divisions in the current political landscape. As the former president prepares to voice his rebuttal, the exchange highlights the escalating rhetoric as both sides gear up for the upcoming election cycle.
