Former President Donald Trump has once again launched a personal attack on a journalist, this time targeting MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump called Ruhle a “dumb as a rock bimbo” after she shared her views on voting against him in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

The attack came after a segment on Real Time with Bill Maher, where Ruhle, Maher, and New York Times columnist Bret Stephens discussed the possibility of voting for Vice President Kamala Harris instead of Trump. During the episode, which quickly went viral, Ruhle and Maher pressed Stephens on his reluctance to vote for Trump, urging him to consider Harris as the alternative, as reported by the HuffPost.

Ruhle pointed out the stark choice between the two candidates: “She’s running against Trump. We have two choices… We know exactly what Trump will do, who he is, and the kind of threat he is to democracy.” Maher, adding to the pressure on Stephens, jokingly compared him to “the dog we’re trying to get in the car to go to the vet,” illustrating his hesitation to back Harris.

Trump’s Rant Targets Ruhle, Maher, and Stephens

In response to this discussion, Trump unleashed a tirade on Truth Social. While Ruhle bore the brunt of his insults, being labeled a “dumb as a rock bimbo,” Trump didn’t stop there. He called Maher a “befuddled mess, sloppy and tired,” and referred to Stephens as a “Trump-hating loser.” Trump also claimed that all three were suffering from what he called “TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME,” a term he often uses to dismiss his critics as irrationally obsessed with opposing him.

The former president then took aim at The New York Times, where Stephens writes, accusing the newspaper of being “failing” and “badly run.” In his rant, Trump argued that Stephens should “find another line of work” because the Times has “gone insane,” allegedly due to pressure from its editors. He also misspelled Stephens’ name as “Steven’s” throughout his post.

Predictions and Personal Attacks

Trump’s tirade concluded with a prediction that the media would once again apologize to him after the election, just as he claims they did in 2016. “They apologized to their readers in 2016 for their complete and total MISS, and they’ll do it again in November,” Trump wrote. He even suggested that the New York Times should be “put to sleep,” calling it a newspaper that “has totally lost its way”, according to Decider

Anti-Semitism and Democracy Concerns

Interestingly, the Real Time segment also delved into concerns about Trump’s rhetoric, particularly regarding anti-Semitism. Maher pointed out, “Whenever the autocrat starts blaming the Jews I think it’s a great sign because when has that ever turned out badly.” Stephens responded by calling Trump “anti-semitic adjacent” and emphasizing the risks to democracy whenever anti-Semitism emerges.

This isn’t the first time Trump has resorted to personal attacks against those who criticize him. Throughout his political career, the former president has been notorious for lashing out at journalists, political opponents, and public figures who oppose his candidacy. As the 2024 election draws nearer, Trump’s penchant for name-calling and public feuds shows no signs of slowing down.
