Donald Trump Mistakenly Calls Donald Trump Jr.’s Fiancée His ‘Wife’ During Florida Rally

During his rally in Florida on Tuesday, Donald Trump mistakenly referred to his son Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, as his “wife,” despite the fact that the couple is not married. An excerpt from the event where the former president talks about his son has since gone viral. In the video, Trump says, “He works so hard, so smart. A great wife, a great wife, as does Don.”
An X user shared the video with the caption, “Donald Trump, yesterday, claimed that Don Jr. has a great wife. Don Jr. isn’t married. Is that dementia? Or is that only dementia when a Democrat does it?” Reports indicate that Donald Jr., 46, began dating Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host, shortly after his ‘uncontested’ divorce from Vanessa Haydon, the mother of his five children.
Though they got engaged in 2020, the couple has not announced a wedding date yet. They live together in Jupiter’s Admiral’s Cove and often host extravagant parties. Critics responded to Trump’s comments with witty remarks. One internet user wrote, “Cringe. Especially when that son was there. You’d think they’d pull old pops off the stage and out of the race to prevent him from embarrassing himself alas, the grifting won’t grift by itself.”
Another user suggested, “Trump should drop from the race immediately.” Supporters of Trump, however, pointed to Joe Biden’s recent slip-ups. One critic noted, “I suppose you have to look at the rally in its entirety, just like you’d have to look at Joe Biden’s cognitive ability in its entirety. If someone were to compare ‘gaffes’ – it becomes obvious rather quickly that Biden’s have become far more frequent and far more egregious.”
Another supporter added, “You’re reaching. A lot of people refer to their long-term fiancés as their wives/husbands. At least Trump knows what year it is.” Further criticism of Biden came from a social media user who said, “Until Donald Trump refers to himself as the first-ever black woman president, then I’ll start taking what you said seriously.”
Recently, Biden made a notable gaffe during a radio interview on Independence Day, where he seemed to confuse himself with Vice President Kamala Harris. As reported by The Daily Express on Wurd, a local Philadelphia radio station, he said, “By the way, I’m proud to be, as I said, the first vice president, first Black woman… to serve with a Black president.” It appeared that Biden was trying to highlight Harris’s historic role as the first Black and female vice president.
Biden has seen a decline in polls following his performance in the first debate. Two weeks after the debate, where Biden struggled to effectively counter Trump’s claims or defend his platform, several major donors cut ties with his campaign, demanding his replacement before resuming donations. The televised vulnerability led many Democratic politicians to push for his resignation and express concerns about his re-election prospects.
