Defeated vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz declared he could “kick most of their a**” during a discussion with California Governor Gavin Newsom, shifting the conversation toward their political opponents. Walz, who ran alongside Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, recently appeared on This is Gavin Newsom, where he speculated about why male voters were drifting away from the Democratic Party.
His remarks fueled speculation about his potential 2028 presidential bid. During the March 18 podcast episode, Walz and Newsom discussed how liberals could reconnect with male voters. Newsom noted that Democrats were losing support among men of all ages and racial backgrounds.

“We cannot continue to be on the defense, reacting to this. We gotta meet people where they are…,” Newsom said, urging Democrats to engage rather than dismiss potential voters. “You gotta respect people you disagree with, and you can’t just dismiss people,” he added, according to Whiskey Riff.
However, Walz took a more aggressive stance. The former high school football coach suggested that taking on critics physically might be more effective than diplomacy.
“How do you fight it? I think I could kick most of their a**, I do think that” Walz joked. “But I don’t know if we’re going to fall into that place where we challenge you to a WWE fight kind of thing.” While Newsom maintained a diplomatic tone, Walz turned the conversation toward racism and misogyny.
“These are bad guys though. These are bad guys,” Walz said. “How do we push some of those guys back under a rock? You don’t think it’s racism and misogyny?” This isn’t the first time Walz has brought gender and masculinity into the conversation. During the podcast, he accused conservatives of using misogyny to undermine his credibility during the election.

“We buy their frame on these issues of sexuality, you know, but their whole thing was that they spent all their time, these guys on Fox News, [saying] that Walz is gay, he’s not masculine, you know, he doesn’t coach football the way he should,” Walz claimed. “There’s misogyny in here that’s happening.”
He further criticized the focus on his masculinity. “Not that I spend much time thinking about this, but it just baffled me how much time they spent trying to attack me, that I wasn’t, like, masculine enough in their vision.” Referencing Fox News host Jesse Watters, who had mocked him for using a straw to drink a milkshake, Walz continued, “I saw Fox News did, like, a couple days because I used a straw, and I’m, like, ‘Hell, man, what am I—how else do you drink a milkshake?’

But they focused on it obsessively, which I think again is their obsession, their weirdness.” Watters previously remarked on The Five, as reported by the Washington Free Beacon, “Women love masculinity, and women do not love Tim Walz, so that should just tell you about how masculine Tim Walz is.”
As speculation about the 2028 election continues, Walz’s comments highlight the growing debate within the Democratic Party about how to win back male voters while confronting attacks on identity and leadership.
