WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) did not hold back his criticism of Attorney General Pam Bondi during a right-wing podcast interview, slamming her handling of the long-anticipated Jeffrey Epstein files. Burchett accused Bondi of making a premature promise that “blew up in her face” after the files failed to materialize as expected.
“That was a stupid move,” Burchett stated on Tuesday. The remarks were made during an interview on the “Benny Johnson Show,” which was broadcast live from Capitol Hill ahead of President Donald Trump’s congressional address.

However, Burchett found himself at odds with Johnson when the host pressed him about the long-awaited Epstein files—documents that have been the subject of intense public interest and conspiracy theories for years.
“What the hell is going on with this list, man?” Johnson asked.
“I don’t think it exists anymore,” Burchett responded. “I think they’ve doctored it and I don’t think—we shouldn’t trust what comes out. I just think they’ve delayed it and… she was way over her skis when she said, you know, ‘it’s sitting on my desk.’ Now, why the heck would she say that? Why would she say that?”

The MAGA-aligned lawmaker continued his critique, suggesting Bondi was trying to elevate her status but ultimately failed. “She’s big doggin’ it and it blew up in her face,” Burchett added.
Despite the backlash, Bondi has repeatedly reassured the public that the files will eventually be released. However, as of yet, no new information from the Department of Justice has been made public. The attorney general has defended the delay, citing the importance of protecting victims’ identities and personal information in any disclosures.

“It’s pretty sick what that man did,” Bondi remarked in a Fox News interview last week, referring to Epstein’s crimes. The controversy surrounding the Epstein files remains a topic of heated discussion, with both lawmakers and the public eager for more transparency. The delay has only fueled ongoing speculation and debates over whether the full extent of Epstein’s network will ever be revealed.
