Amidst rising tensions in the American Conservative Union (ACU) over alleged se*xual misconduct and financial irregularities, Vice Chairman Charlie Gerow has resigned. Gerow has additionally demanded an in-depth internal investigation concerning allegations against ACU chairman, Matt Schlapp, a prominent supporter of Donald Trump.

For a while, the ACU, which also oversees the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), has been embroiled in allegations centered around Schlapp.

He is currently confronted with a lawsuit worth $9.4 million following claims of inappropriate behavior towards a campaign worker for Herschel Walker. While Schlapp has refuted these claims, other accusations suggest repeated unwanted advances toward various individuals in the recent past.

I WILL CONTINUE TO PRAY THAT THE DIFFICULTIES THEY ARE ENCOUNTERING WILL BE DEALT WITH OPENLY AND HONESTLY. I AM CALLING ON MY FORMER COLLEAGUES TO AUTHORIZE AN INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION INTO THE CHARGES AGAINST MATT SCHLAPP, TO CONDUCT AN INDEPENDENT FORENSIC AUDIT OF THE ORGANIZATIONS FINANCES, TO OBTAIN A WRITTEN OPINION OF COUNSEL THAT THE ORGANIZATION IS IN FULL COMPLIANCE WITH ITS OWN BYLAWS AND ALL APPLICABLE LAW AND TO THOROUGHLY REVIEW ALL THE EXIT INTERVIEWS OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF STAFF WHO HAVE RECENTLY LEFT.

Charlie Gerow, in his resignation letter to the ACU board, strongly advocated for an autonomous probe into Schlapp’s conduct. He further requested a comprehensive financial audit, legal reviews on organizational compliance, and a thorough evaluation of exit interviews from recently departed staff members.

While Schlapp refrained from commenting when approached by the Post, Matt Smith, an ACU executive committee member, responded. Smith downplayed the allegations, branding them as fabricated and viewing Gerow’s actions as a maneuver to pressure Schlapp into stepping down.

THESE ALLEGATIONS ARE COMPLETELY FABRICATED AND REPRESENT A BLATANT ATTEMPT BY MR. GEROW AND DISGRUNTLED INDIVIDUALS TO FORCE MR. SCHLAPP TO STEP DOWN…ONLY WHEN IT BECAME CLEAR THAT HE WAS NOT GOING TO BE REELECTED TO THE BOARD DID HE FABRICATE THESE FALSE ALLEGATIONS.

This tumult within the ACU is intensified by lingering suspicions of financial misconduct within the organization.
