Amid the speculation surrounding former President Donald Trump’s potential vice presidential pick, Mary Trump has urged the public to remember the events of January 6, 2021, and question why her uncle has so many vacancies despite serving a full term.

Mary Trump criticized the “hysterical” media for focusing on defectors from President Joe Biden’s campaign, including the “star of Monuments Men,” while overlooking the more significant issue: “Donald has lost the support of virtually every single person who served with him when he was in the Oval Office,” she emphasized in her newsletter, “The Good In Us.”

Highlighting the departure of key figures, she reminded readers that Trump’s one-time vice president, Mike Pence, was nearly killed by Trump’s followers during the Capitol riot. “It was on that day that Donald sent his supporters to attack the Capitol in an attempt to interrupt the peaceful transfer of power for the first time in American history,” she wrote. “That was the day Donald’s most fanatical followers erected gallows outside the Capitol while chanting ‘Hang Mike Pence.'”

Mary Trump condemned her uncle for his inaction during the riot, noting he “sat on his a– and watched the attack unfold on television” while Pence and his family were moved to a secure location, narrowly escaping the mob.

“Who Donald picks isn’t important—it’ll be another mediocre (most likely white) man. What matters is that Donald has to pick a new vice president because he almost had the last guy killed,” she stated, also calling Pence a “shameless sycophant who polished my uncle’s boots for four years.”

The exodus from Trump’s camp is extensive, with at least 40 of 44 former administration members refusing to support him. This includes former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, who called Trump a “threat to democracy,” former chief of staff John Kelly, and former National Security Adviser John Bolton.

Mary Trump lamented, “It’s a truism that a man is judged by the company he keeps, so it’s mystifying to me that Donald isn’t being judged for hosting fascists and Holocaust deniers, cultivating the support of Q-Anon conspiracy theorists, sucking up to autocrats and dictators, declaring his allegiance to Proud Boys and other white supremacists, and hanging out with his fellow racists, misogynists, and insurrectionists.”

Concluding with advice for Trump’s prospective running mate—reportedly Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum—she suggested they consider the potential consequences of choosing “the Constitution, the rule of law, and the American people over his corrupt, despicable boss.” “Or he can just ask Mike Pence,” she concluded.
