During a committee meeting focused on crime in Washington, D.C., Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) abruptly left the room following pointed remarks from Democratic Representative Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) that highlighted her controversial past actions.

Greene, known for her divisive and conspiratorial rhetoric, had delivered an extensive monologue touching on various topics including crime in D.C., gun rights, former President Donald Trump, and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Following her speech, Rep. Garcia commented on the irony of Greene discussing crime in the capital, given her endorsement of the January 6th insurrection and her sympathetic treatment of the insurrectionists during a jail visit last year.

He recalled her actions of offering handshakes and supportive gestures to those he described as having attempted to subvert the U.S. government.

Greene’s departure from the meeting was marked by an outburst, the content of which was not clearly discernible. This incident mirrored a previous occasion where Greene had criticized Hunter Biden for leaving a hearing during her speech. Rep. Garcia later criticized Greene’s behavior on social media, reiterating his disapproval of her support for individuals arrested in relation to the January 6th Capitol attack, condemning her portrayal of them as heroes.
