Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) expressed outrage on Thursday after a Fox News poll indicated that President Joe Biden is leading former President Donald Trump among rural voters. The poll, published on Wednesday, revealed Biden leading Trump by 2 points, marking a 5-point swing since March. Notably, the poll also showed Biden with a 2-point edge among rural voters.

Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk reacted to the poll results in a post on X (formerly Twitter), calling it an outlier. “They have Joe Biden winning rural voters 50-48% over Trump,” Kirk wrote. “There is no way that’s possible. Zero.” Greene echoed Kirk’s sentiment, stating, “100% correct!! This Fox News poll is WRONG!” She added emphatically, “My district is in rural northwest Georgia and it is SOLIDLY supporting Trump! Same with most of rural America! Smart people!”

Trump himself acknowledged the unfavorable polling results. “FoxNews [sic] Polls are always the worst for me. They have been from the beginning and always will be!” he posted on his Truth Social platform.

The reactions highlight the skepticism among Trump supporters regarding polling data, especially from traditionally conservative-leaning sources like Fox News. Greene’s vehement response underscores her belief in unwavering rural support for Trump, despite the poll’s findings.

The poll’s results and the subsequent backlash reflect ongoing tensions and differing perceptions within the Republican base as the 2024 election approaches. The debate over the accuracy and reliability of polls continues to be a contentious issue among politicians and their supporters.
