Lara Trump Defends Father-in-Law, Dismisses Fears of Retaliation

Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chair Lara Trump firmly stated that her father-in-law, former President Donald Trump, has “no intention of retribution or revenge,” following reports suggesting that President Joe Biden may consider issuing preemptive pardons for individuals who could face unfair prosecution.

During a Thursday interview with Fox News host Bill Hemmer, Lara Trump was asked about concerns regarding potential retribution should Donald Trump return to the White House. Hemmer cited fears that Trump might seek revenge against his political opponents.

“Some are fearing retribution on behalf of your father-in-law when he goes back to the White House,” Hemmer said. However, he also acknowledged there was “no evidence” suggesting that anyone had requested a pardon.

Lara Trump swiftly responded, defending her father-in-law’s position. “Donald Trump himself said that success will be his revenge,” she explained, referencing Trump’s previous statements about his approach to political battles. “If there’s anyone who understands how egregious it is to have the politicization of our systems against one individual, it is Donald Trump.”

She further clarified, “And so I would say, look, if anyone has done anything wrong, then maybe they should be worried, not because of Donald Trump, because maybe they’ve broken the law.”

Despite these assurances, Trump’s previous rhetoric about retribution has raised eyebrows. In June, during a speech, Donald Trump indicated his intention to take drastic measures against the current administration, saying, “I will appoint a real special prosecutor to go after the most corrupt president in the history of America, Joe Biden, and go after the Biden crime family.”

Lara Trump’s comments align with her long-standing defense of her father-in-law, stressing that his focus remains on the country’s future rather than any personal vendettas. However, her remarks come amidst ongoing political tension and questions about how Trump would handle power if he were to win a second term in the White House.
