A recent interview on Newsmax took an unexpectedly uncomfortable turn when host Greg Kelly appeared unaware of Kimberly Guilfoyle’s engagement to Donald Trump Jr., creating a tense exchange that quickly went viral. The interview began with Kelly referring to former President Donald Trump as Guilfoyle’s “potential father-in-law,” a phrasing that immediately set Guilfoyle on edge.

Kelly began the segment by stating, “So obviously this atrocity unfolds, your potential father-in-law under arrest. But you know what? It’s turning up roses.” Guilfoyle quickly corrected him, her irritation clear. “Potential? Future father-in-law. Jesus,” she snapped back, underscoring her frustration at the host’s oversight. Kelly, instead of picking up on her discomfort, continued down a personal line of questioning, asking, “Is it sealed? Do we have a date?” Guilfoyle’s response was measured but firm, replying, “Uh, not that I’m sharing on the air.”

Unfazed, Kelly pressed on, seemingly oblivious to Guilfoyle’s discomfort. “Fair enough. Hey, I’m glad. I didn’t realize. There’s a ring. Fantastic, that’s great news,” he said, stumbling over his words in what seemed like an attempt to recover. The former Fox News host couldn’t resist a sarcastic jab, adding, “We’ve been engaged babe for two years, but we’ll take this breaking news alert. That’s hysterical.” Her words, dripping with sarcasm, underscored the awkwardness of the situation, as per the Independent.

Kelly’s apparent unawareness of the engagement, which had been public knowledge since New Year’s Eve 2020, only added to the cringe factor of the exchange. Rather than shifting gears, Kelly doubled down, asking, “Well, I mean, alright. Look, we need — What’s he waiting for?” At this point, Guilfoyle deflected, stating with a pointed tone, “We need more Trump!”

The conversation eventually shifted from personal matters to politics, allowing Guilfoyle to voice her criticisms of the Biden administration. Referring to President Joe Biden as the “placeholder-in-chief,” she asserted he was “just sitting there like a dirty, empty placemat until they figure out it’s time to pull the ripcord on him and cackling Kamala [Harris]” as per Mediaite.

This uncomfortable interview wasn’t just an isolated moment but has also brought renewed scrutiny to Guilfoyle and Trump Jr.’s relationship. Recent reports suggest potential tension between the couple, with Page Six revealing that the two “haven’t been getting along over the past year.” Observers have reportedly witnessed public bickering between the pair at Mar-a-Lago, with one insider noting, “Nothing crazy, but you know when a couple is fighting. They bicker in public.”

Adding to the speculation, Guilfoyle was noticeably absent from a Trump family photo on election night 2024, even as Trump Jr.’s ex-wife, Vanessa Trump, appeared alongside the rest of the family. Guilfoyle did join Donald Trump on stage for his victory speech, wearing a red dress, but her absence from the family photo has left observers speculating about potential rifts.

The interview not only highlighted Kelly’s apparent lack of preparation but also threw light on possible underlying issues in Guilfoyle’s relationship with Trump Jr., an engagement that has remained high-profile since its announcement. As the couple navigates the spotlight amid Trump’s political activities, the interview serves as a reminder of the scrutiny and occasional discomfort that can accompany life in the public eye.
