Kamala Harris Mocked for Bizarre Doritos Rant in AI Speech—’Queen of Word Salads’ Strikes Again

Former Vice President Kamala Harris found herself the target of online ridicule after referencing her love for Doritos while speaking about innovation at the HumanX AI conference on Sunday, March 9, The New York Post reported. Harris, 60, was headlining the event at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas when she veered into an anecdote about ordering nacho cheese Doritos via DoorDash while watching the Academy Awards on March 2.

“We did DoorDash ’cause I wanted Doritos. And the red carpet part was about to start, and nobody wanted to leave to go to the grocery store,” Harris explained. “So it was DoorDash. So I was willing to give up whatever might be the tracking of Kamala Harris’ particular fondness for nacho cheese Doritos for the sake of getting a big bag of Doritos as I watched the Oscars.”

Her remarks left many confused, especially as they came during a discussion on artificial intelligence with Nuno Sebastiao, CEO of data science company Feedzai. As Sebastiao framed her anecdote as an example of consumer behavior, Harris continued, shifting into a broader—and somewhat disjointed—reflection on innovation.

“But here’s the thing: At what point do we also uplift and highlight the consumer’s right to also expect—and you can debate with me if it should be a right, I think it should—to expect that the innovation would also be weighted in terms of solving their everyday problems, which are beyond my craving for Doritos,” she said.

She then pivoted to scientific advancements, stating, “And I know the work is happening—around, you know, scientific discoveries, for example, to cure longstanding diseases.” However, she didn’t stop there, adding another unrelated topic to the mix.

“But I’m going to throw out another one. I would love it if there would be an investment of resources in solving the affordable housing issue in America. Like, help me with that. Help me with that.” Her seemingly scattered remarks quickly went viral on the social media platform X, where users mocked her speech for its lack of clarity.

“Kamala Harris tries to explain what scientific innovation looks like and it sounds like the dumbest thing imaginable. She’s three glasses of wine deep,” one user quipped.

Harris has long been criticized for delivering rambling and unclear statements, a weakness that many believe hurt her failed 2024 presidential campaign. The latest viral moment only fueled further scrutiny, as critics questioned her ability to stay on message in high-profile appearances.
