Kamala Harris Campaign Slams Trump After He Claims “Every Right” to Interfere in 2020 Election
Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign sharply criticized former President Donald Trump after he asserted during a Sunday interview with Fox News’ Mark Levin that he had “every right” to interfere in the 2020 election.
“It’s so crazy that my poll numbers go up,” Trump said in the interview. “Whoever heard, you get indicted for interfering with a presidential election where you have every right to do it, but you get indicted and your poll numbers go up.”
Trump’s comments came as he continues to promote the false claim, often referred to as the “Big Lie,” that he won the 2020 election, despite losing to President Joe Biden. Moreover, Trump has yet to confirm whether he would accept the results of the 2024 election if he loses again.
Sarafina Chitika, a spokesperson for the Harris campaign, responded strongly to Trump’s remarks in a statement on Monday. “Everything Donald Trump has promised on the campaign trail – from ‘terminating’ the Constitution, to imprisoning his political opponents and promising to rule as a dictator on ‘day one’ – makes it clear that he believes he is above the law. Now, Trump is claiming he had ‘every right’ to interfere in the 2020 election. He did not,” Chitika said.
Chitika further accused Trump of pushing a “false history about the past,” underscoring the need for a new direction in American politics. “Americans are ready for a new way forward,” she said. “They know Vice President Harris is the tough-as-nails prosecutor we need to turn the page on chaos, fear, and division, and uphold the rule of law.”
The Harris campaign’s swift response highlights their strategy to contrast Harris’s commitment to the rule of law with Trump’s continued efforts to undermine the democratic process. As Trump faces multiple indictments, including those related to his actions surrounding the January 6, 2021, insurrection, the Harris campaign is positioning her as a leader who will restore stability and justice in the nation.
