Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign took aim at former President Donald Trump after a leaked memo from his senior officials was revealed Wednesday night. The memo, issued by Trump campaign co-chairs Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, sternly warned staffers against unauthorized contact with the press, threatening termination for any violations.

According to Puck News’ Tara Palmieri, the memo, titled “IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ,” reminded staff of the campaign’s strict communications policy. “Throughout this campaign, we have sent periodic reminders of our communications and press policy when interacting with reporters and media members,” the email read.

The memo emphasized that only those with explicit permission from senior leadership or the communications team should engage with the press, either on or off the record. “You should not be independently speaking or communicating with any member of the press,” the memo stated. It also underscored the seriousness of the rule, stating, “The press doesn’t give a d— if you lose your job because you spoke out of school.”

In response to the leaked memo, Ammar Moussa, the rapid response director for the Harris campaign, took to social media with a playful jab: “We’re at the leaks about leaks part of the Trump campaign! We’ve all seen this movie before.”

Trump’s obsession with controlling leaks has been a hallmark of his campaigns and presidency, as numerous embarrassing stories have emerged from confidential sources in the past. Despite efforts to clamp down on leaks, the Trump team continues to struggle with internal disclosures making their way to the public.

This recent leak is not the first to plague Trump’s current campaign. Earlier this summer, following an assassination attempt against Trump in Pennsylvania, LaCivita and Wiles issued a similar warning to staff, instructing them to avoid commenting on the incident on social media and discouraging the use of “dangerous rhetoric.”

As Trump’s team continues to grapple with internal leaks, the Harris campaign is capitalizing on these missteps, using the situation to mock their opponent and highlight ongoing disarray within the Trump camp.
